Construction Pre-Apprenticeship Program

Designed for those who want to work in construction trades with a focus in the Toronto Community Housing Corporation (TCHC) Lawrence Heights Revitalization project. Participants will be provided with “real world” exposure to the conditions and expectations in a broad range of trades so they become fully aware of what they will face as an employed registered apprentice.

This 20-week* program includes:

  • Hands-on Skill development and exposure to 14 trades (8 weeks)
  • Hands-on Skill development on active job site (2 weeks)
  • Health and Safety Training, Life and Employability Skills (includes Orientation day/Guest speakers) (2 weeks)
  • Paid work placement experience (up to 8 weeks)

  • *Note: minor changes to curriculum schedule/outline may occur


  • Reside in the Lawrence Heights area or surrounding community
  • Must be at least 16 years of age
  • Grade 10 or equivalent
  • Eligible to work in Ontario
  • Appropriate proof of status (citizen/landed immigrant, etc.)
  • Committed to the Pre-Apprenticeship Program and to employment in the construction trades
