Designed for those who want to work in construction trades with a focus in the Toronto Community Housing Corporation (TCHC) Lawrence Heights Revitalization project.
Participants will be provided with “real world” exposure to the conditions and expectations in a broad range of trades so they become fully aware of what they will face as an employed registered apprentice.
This 20-week* program includes:
Hands-on Skill development and exposure to 14 trades (8 weeks)
Hands-on Skill development on active job site (2 weeks)
Health and Safety Training, Life and Employability Skills (includes Orientation day/Guest speakers) (2 weeks)
Paid work placement experience (up to 8 weeks)
*Note: minor changes to curriculum schedule/outline may occur
Reside in the Lawrence Heights area or surrounding community
Must be at least 16 years of age
Grade 10 or equivalent
Eligible to work in Ontario
Appropriate proof of status (citizen/landed immigrant, etc.)
Committed to the Pre-Apprenticeship Program and to employment in the construction trades
