Summer Music & Art Camps 2024

We are excited to announce that registration for our summer music camp in Toronto 2024 is now open! Explore your musical talents and creative flair at the TDSB Summer Music and Art Camps! Our camps welcome young artists and musicians of all skill levels, offering diverse programs including band, orchestra, strings, and personalized instruction. It's a chance to develop your skills, build friendships, and celebrate in an exciting final concert.

Join us for a summer of music-making, artistic expression, and endless fun!

Program Information

1. DownTown Summer Strings & Things (Day camp)

Location: Bickford Centre (by Christie Subway Station) 777 Bloor St W, Toronto, ON M6G 1L6

Ages: 8 to 14 (Grades 3 to 8)

Dates: July 8 to July 19

Daily Schedule: 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Advanced and beginner strings practice twice a day to prepare for a concert at the end of the two weeks. Music rehearsals are interspersed with camp activities!

Camp Activities:

• Outdoor games / Active living
• Art and culture

Requirements: At least one year of experience on an orchestral stringed instrument (violin, viola, cello, bass) is recommended but not required. Ask your school music teacher or itinerant to borrow the instrument for the summer. Total beginners are welcome.

2. Toronto Summer Music Camp (Overnight camp)

Location: Mono Cliffs Outdoor Education Centre, 755046 2nd Line, Orangeville, Ontario L9W 2Y8

• Camp 1 - July 2 to July 6 - Grades 5-8

  Band/Strings (1 or more years of playing experience)

  Beginner Band/Strings (no experience)

  Steel Pan (1 or more years of playing experience)
   

• Camp 2 - July 8 to July 13 - Grades 6-9

  Band/Strings (2 or more years of playing experience)
   

• Camp 3 - July 15 to July 20 - Grade 5-8

  Band/Strings (1 or more years of playing experience)
   

Daily Schedule: Concert Band, String Orchestra, Full Orchestra, Small Ensembles, Master Classes

Camp Activities:

• Outdoor Games
• Evening Program (Camp Hollywood, Karaoke Night, Carnival Night, Camp Fire, and more)
• Faculty Concerts

The camp will provide String Basses and Percussion Instruments. If you already have an instrument from school, kindly bring it with you. Beginners will be supplied with an instrument for use during the camp and are requested to indicate their top two instrument preferences for instruction. Please reach out to us if acquiring an instrument through your school is not feasible.

3. Summer Sounds Music Camp (Day camp)

Location: York Mills Collegiate Institute, 490 York Mills Rd, Toronto, ON M3B 1W6

Ages: 10 to 14 (Grades 5 to 8)

Dates: July 8 to July 19

Daily Schedule: 9:00 am - 3:00 pm

Camp Activities:

• Band and Strings
• Learn a new instrument in our Beginner Band or Strings classes
• Cooperative Games
• Choir
• Small ensembles
• Students must provide their own instrument.

4. Scarborough Arts Camp (Day Camp)

Location: Wexford Public School, 1050 Pharmacy Ave, Scarborough, ON M1R 2H1

Ages: 10 to 15 (Grades 5 to 9)

Dates: July 8 to July 19

Daily Schedule: 9:00 am to 3:00 pm

Camp Activities:

• Band and Strings
• Learn a new instrument in our Beginner Band or Strings classes
• Cooperative Games
• Choir
• Small ensembles
• Students must provide their own instrument.

Please note: You must create a new account to register for a camp. If you created an account last year you do not need to create a new one.

Step 1: Click the ‘Register Here’ button below and select ‘New Account’. Under ‘Family’ please add the camp participants’ names and proceed to creating the account (please add 2 family members if you are registering 2 children). Step 2: Once you have completed the above and are logged in you may now browse the available programs. Please refer to the ‘Program’ dropdown and select ‘Summer Music Camp’ OR type in one of the four digit codes shown below into the search engine and click apply. 

Step 3: Click on the camp you would like to register for and follow the steps. Once it is in your cart you may proceed to the payment option.

Note: You will be prompted to acknowledge a Learn4Life waiver. Please note this is only applicable to Learn4life programming (not Summer Music Camps), but necessary for completing registration. Please click on the file “l4l_waiver.pdf” and it will take you to another box. Click on the file to view the “l4l_waiver.pdf” and click “Yes, I agree”. Once that is done you will see that the acknowledgement goes from the colour Grey to Green.

Financial assistance for TDSB students is available on a limited basis, determined by the student's financial need and the availability of funds.
