March 27, 2024 - The Toronto District School Board (TDSB) has reached a
tentative local agreement with the Ontario Secondary School Teachers’
Federation (OSSTF) District 12, occasional teacher bargaining unit, which
represents approximately 2,000 occasional secondary teachers at the school
board.
The tentative agreement must still be ratified by both
the TDSB and OSSTF on or before
Tuesday, April 30, 2024.
March 26, 2024 - The Toronto District School Board (TDSB) has reached a tentative local agreement with the Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation (OSSTF) District 12 contract teacher bargaining unit, which represents approximately 5,000 secondary teachers at the school board. The tentative agreement must still be ratified by both the TDSB and OSSTF on or before Tuesday, April 30, 2024.
PSSP - The Toronto District School Board (TDSB) has reached a tentative local agreement with Professional Support Services Personnel (PSSP) District 12 which is represented by the Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation(OSSTF).
The union represents approximately 1,200 staff members from a wide range of professional services including Child and Youth Workers, Child and Youth Counsellors, Social Workers, Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Speech Language Pathologists, Attendance Counselors and Court Liaison Workers .
The tentative agreement must still be ratified by both the TDSB and PSSP on or before Tuesday, April 30, 2024. Learn more about the stages of the collective bargaining process .
2023 OSSTF Updates
August 16, 2023 - The Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation (OSSTF) has indicated that a central strike vote could happen as early as this fall. It is important to note that this is just one step in the collective bargaining process and does not mean secondary teachers are going on strike. We remain hopeful that all sides (Ontario Public School Boards’ Association, Government of Ontario and ETFO) will reach an agreement prior to any possible strike action. August 25, 2023 - The Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation (OSSTF) and the Ontario Government have agreed to a tentative process to extend provincial bargaining until October 27, 2023 . If the process is approved by OSSTF membership, all remaining items that are not agreed to in bargaining by that date will be moved to binding arbitration, thus avoiding possible strike action. Local discussions will continue until March 2024 and any items not agreed to will also be sent to binding arbitration.
September 28, 2023 - The Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation (OSSTF) members have voted to approve a process for concluding bargaining previously tentatively agreed to on August 25, 2023 between the Ontario government and OSSTF . Under this approved process, if the parties are unable to reach agreement provincially by October 27, 2023, all remaining items will move to binding arbitration, thus avoiding possible strike action. The process between the parties also includes discussion on local items, which cover more administrative and non-monetary issues. Local discussions will continue until March 2024 and any items not agreed to will also be sent to binding arbitration.
October 26, 2023 – The Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation (OSSTF) and the Ontario government held final negotiations on Wednesday, October 25. Some progress was made; however, there are no talks scheduled for the near future. The arbitrator will decide on monetary items, including the amount of wage increases.
