October 17, 2022 – The Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) announced that a conciliator has issued a “no board report”, meaning that a legal strike could occur no sooner than 17 days (November 3, 2022). This does not mean that there will be labour disruption, and in the meantime, negotiations continue. The School Boards Collective Bargaining Act requires that a union planning to take labour action must provide five days notice to the employer bargaining agency. The TDSB is hopeful that all sides will be able to reach a collective agreement that avoids any impacts to classrooms.
